Dear Sir or Madam,
I enclose a copy of the letter dated 4.8.2020 to the EU Commission, Brussels, for your information.
To underline my urgent concern and as a supplement I would like to announce our previous and latest demands of the Citizens’ Initiative for the recognition of Ayurveda at European level. We need strong support at EU level.
If we believed that we have left Corona-19 behind us, we unfortunately have to accept an increase in infections again.
We are worried about new waves of infection and we are worried that with the return of travel Corona will also return. The risk of a resurgence of Corvid-19 is very real wrote EU Health Commissioner Ms Kyriakides
A 2nd corona wave is emerging. The situation for Europe remains dangerous. Europe could, no, should be better prepared ! When should we expect a 3rd and 4th wave? The economic situation in the European Union is critical, further slumps or setbacks would be fatal for the European idea. Tourism is on the ground! The freedom of travel remains – for reasonable reasons – also in Europe further curbed. Many EU countries are tightening their corona regulations.
A recognized medicine or vaccine is not yet available. Experts fear that the fight against corona will continue for many years to come and will demand a great deal from us, economically, socio-politically and in terms of health policy. This worries us!
It cannot be denied that we need a long-term solution and good strategies to be better prepared. According to experts, one of the most important pillars for a long-term solution in the fight against corona is “strengthening the immune system”. Ayurveda and Panchakarma treatments are excellent for this. Not only the immune system is strengthened, but the entire vitality. The body receives an effective arsenal of possibilities to better cope with infectious diseases (also Covid-19).
But only very few people have the money to undergo a therapeutic Ayurveda treatment. For the sector of complementary medicine, therefore, Europe-wide solidarity and democratization is needed. The WHO has recognized Ayurveda, we are now closing the gap.
Therefore we demand from the European policy for all of Europe the state recognition of Ayurveda as a medical therapy (freedom of choice of therapy)
We demand the state recognition of Ayurveda because we want to live!
We demand the unrestricted freedom of travel in Europe, because we want to travel!
The costs for prophylaxis and health care are insignificant in relation to the economic damage and because it helps to avoid suffering, for moral reasons required.
Please support our project.
